Bring your food innovation to market

If you are an entrepreneur passionate about food and beverage, UBC now offers an online Program Certificate in Food Product Development. Learn step-by-step how to create new food and beverage products to scale – including plant-based and upcycled products – and how to advance to the commercialization stage using successful business models.

Offered fully online, the program helps you develop specialized skills and consists of four non-credit micro-certificates. These short courses can be taken individually to upgrade your skills and knowledge for a rewarding career in food product development.

 

Micro-courses in the Program Certificate in Food Product Development begin soon:

  • Food Product Development and Commercialization – starts May 11, 2026!
  • Fundamentals of Food Science for Professionals – fall 2026
  • Entrepreneurship Fundamentals for Food Professionals – fall 2026
  • Sensory Evaluation of Food Products – fall 2026

Students who complete all four micro-courses will earn a non-credit Program Certificate in Food Product Development. Qualifications needed to enroll:  Either two years of experience in the food industry or services; OR a degree, diploma, certificate in science or food science; OR own a food and beverage business.
